“Cosmic Marvels” - The Guardian

“Translucent…music inspired by the stillness Cornish feels when she is connected to nature…out now on Cantaloupe Music.” BBC Radio 3

“Cornish's beguiling music is densely textured and its effect often hypnotic…scored for six pianos, Ocean ebbs and flows like the movements of cresting waves. In contrast to Sky, the music in Ocean repeatedly swells from near-silence into billowing masses of sound…The pianist's poised realization of these five pieces shows her sensibility clearly aligning with the composer's in poetic meditations that quietly dazzle the senses and engage the intellect.” Textura Magazine

"All of the piano parts are played by Vicky Chow (of Bang on a Can All-Stars), and her work is impressive…This entire conception is fresh, and the sound from New York's Reservoir Studio captures Cornish's layering effects beautifully…a standout in the field." - All Music

"Cornish’s landscape is lush, sun-baked, and a little hazy in the afternoon light, and Chow is adept and adroit at bringing out the glistening imagery painted in each track, with synesthetic titles like Sky, Ocean, Sunglitter, and Last Light." - VAN Magazine

"a reflective and subtle work, Sky for multiple layers of pianos. . . played by the versatile and talented Vicky Chow" - WNYC New Sounds

“The lush, and luscious, pieces are beautifully performed, their multiple layers seamlessly interwoven to produce an entrancing experience.”- The Whole Note Magazine

Introspective, multi-layered and quietly majestic, Sierra is a vivid meditation on how our deep connection to nature can move us to an inner stillness and awaken the creative impulse.

Sierra consists of five separate pieces composed for multiple pianos, ranging from the poignant solo excursion ‘Last Light’ to the cascading, undulating ‘Ocean’ for 6 pianos, and the epic 15-minute title piece, for 4 pianos. Performed with confidence and commitment by pianist Vicky Chow, whose ability to flex in different interpretive directions, depending on the composer’s intention, is renowned in the modern classical community, Sierra captures a palette of subtle but insistent emotions — wonder, wistfulness, joy and awe — that can elevate and transport us with astonishing power.
